APPROVALS AND COURSES OFFERED

The College was accorded approval by AICTE, New Delhi vide order F.No: 06/KER/ENGG/2002/61 dated 27/05/2002 and 19/09/2005 for its establishment as a new Degree level institution from the academic year 2002-2003 for the following B.Tech. Courses with intake as specifi ed below:

The Government of Kerala has accorded sanction for the establishment of this college during the academic year 2002-03 and Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala granted affiliation to the College vide Nos Ac.A VII/1/1382/02 dated13/12/02, Ac.A VII/2/2517/04 dated17/12/05, Ac.A VII/2/2517/04 dated13/06/06.

The B.Tech. Degree courses affiliated to M.G. University, Kottayam, Kerala under the semester scheme of studies comprises of total four years (eight semesters). Details of the B.Tech. Course syllabus is available on the University website given below or on the College website.

*Out of the total seats in each branch, 50% seats are filled by the Central Allotment Agency and remaining 50% seat will be filled up under the Management Quota. NRI Students are admitted to the NRI seats apportioned under Management Quota. In addition, 5% of seats are available for allotment under Tuition Fee Waiver scheme for socio-economically backward students. In the 3rd Sem./2nd Yr of each B.Tech. Course, Lateral Entry Scheme for students with Engineering Diploma is approved by Government of Kerala as per G.O(MS) No.156/2002/H.Edn dated: 13.11.2002 for 10% of the sanctioned seats in addition to total seats.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

HOW TO APPLY: B. TECH. COURSES

Formal Application forms can be obtained from the College Office or from the Admission Officer, Caarmel Engineering College, Believers Church Youth Centre, M.C. Road, Opp. K.S.R.T.C Bus Stand, Thiruvalla -pin 689 101, on payment of Rs 500. The forms can also be downloaded from the College Website, www.bccaarmel.ac.in and submitted along with a draft of Rs 550 to the College Mailing Address. All applications are to be supported with copies of mark list of qualifying examinations and entrance examination results attested by Gazetted Officer / Head of the Institution where the student last studied.

ELIGIBILITY

NATIONALITY:

Candidates should be Indian Citizens.

AGE:

All applicants for four year B.Tech. Degree programme should have completed 17years of age as on 31st December 2012. There is no upper age limit. For lateral entry to B.Tech. courses, maximum age as on the last date of submission of application will be 28years.

ACADEMIC :

Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination (12th), Kerala or examinations recognized equivalent with minimum 50% marks in Mathematics separately and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and any one of Chemistry/Biochemistry/Computer Science/Biology put together or 50% marks in the final year of three year Engineering Diploma Course awarded by the Board of Technical Examinations, Kerala or equivalent are eligible for admission to the four year B.Tech. Degree programme, provided they have qualified in the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination/Competent Authority or the Common Entrance Test conducted by the Kerala Self Financing Engineering College Management Association. In the case of Lateral Entry admissions, candidates who have passed Diploma in Engineering awarded by the State Board of Technical Education or Equivalent after undergoing regular course of three years study in an approved institution are eligible for admission. No rounding off of the percentage of marks to the nearest whole number is permitted. For example, a score of 50 marks out of 100 or 150 marks out of 300 alone will be considered as 50% marks and scores of 45 out of 100 or 135 out of 300 alone will be considered as 45% marks for determining eligibility.

RELAXATION IN MARKS:

Candidates belonging to socially and educationally backward classes as per GO (P) 208/66 edn. dated 02-05-1966 and amendments thereof) with a total annual family income not exceeding Rs.450000 will have a relaxation of 5% in minimum mark required. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination. The candidates should have appeared for the qualifying examination before appearing for the Common Entrance Examination.

PAYMENT OF FEES

All Students are to pay the fees at the beginning of the Academic Year, before commencement of classes by due date. Delayed payment will attract additional fees.

TUITION FEE WAIVER SCHEME

5% seats of total intake will be filled under Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme over and above the sanctioned intake. The above seats will be filled up either by Government or by the Management as agreed by the Government. Students whose family income is below 4.5 lakhs are eligible for admission under this scheme or merit basis.

REFUND / ADJUSTMENT OF FEES

If a candidate leaves the college after taking admission, the candidate will be liable for forfeiture of the fees paid and also will be liable to pay liquidated damages.

ORIGINAL CERTIFICATES

All original certificates have to be produced at the time of admission. Besides, the following certificates have to be produced in original.

1. Physical Fitness Certificate

2. Recognition Certificate of the qualifying examination.

3. Conduct Certificate of the Institution last attended.

4. Transfer Certificate from the Institution previously attended

SCHOLARSHIPS AND STIPENDS

Meritorious students from economically backward families belonging to the home district and Panchayat are admitted every year and a few with full fee concession into every branches/course of study. Various Govt. Scholarships are available for SC/ST/BC/MBC students, as per rules.
